Player Code of Conduct
The Twig Amateur Hockey Association (TAHA) has developed a few underlying and fundamental guidelines we expect all of our players to abide by.
- First and foremost, have fun playing the great sport of hockey and remember that it is a privilege!
- Learn teamwork, sportsmanship, and discipline.
- Work hard to improve your skills, become a good player, and a better teammate.
- Be fully prepared to participate in both practice and games at the designated times.
- Respect your coach(es), teammates, parents, opponents, and officials.
- Always be attentive when the coaches are speaking and explaining drills, strategies, and other important information and follow their direction.
In addition to these general guidelines, TAHA has developed the following Player Code of Conduct.
Player Code of Conduct
As a member of the Twig Amateur Hockey Association, I understand that it is a privilege to play hockey for Twig. To be a member and participate, I understand the and agree to the following Code of Conduct:
- I will encourage good sportsmanship by demonstrating positive support for all players, coaches, spectators, and officials both in victory and defeat.
- I will treat teammates, coaches, opponents, parents, and officials with respect. This includes not criticizing or questioning the decisions of an official. Only the coaches are permitted to speak with the officials regarding a decision made during a contest.
- I will not make negative comments or criticize another player, whether they are a teammate or opponent.
- I will not participate in any type of bullying activity. If bullying is found to have occurred, I understand that disciplinary action, up-to and including suspension or removal from the program may occur.
- Any violent, illegal, or dirty play will result in my immediate removal from the ice and may result in further disciplinary action, including suspension or expulsion.
- I will refrain from the use of profane, insulting, abusive, harassing, or otherwise offensive language on the bench, on the ice, in the locker room, or at any team function.
- I will not abuse the equipment and training aids available at any of the rinks I visit.
- I will not drink alcohol, use tobacco products, or any other illegal substances.
- I will respect and adhere to all rules defined by District 11, Minnesota Hockey, USA Hockey and this Code of Conduct
- I understand that failure to abide by these rules may result in disciplinary action, up to and including removal from the program.
- Any player who is removed from the program either voluntarily or by Board discretion, will not receive a refund from the program.
Coaches are to report any violation of the Player Code of Conduct to the TAHA Executive Board. The Executive Board will assess the violation and determine the appropriate punishment. The following are to be used as a “guideline.” The TAHA Executive Board retains the right to adjust punishments for offenses at their discretion
- 1st Offense in a Season: Discussion of the offense with coach(es) and 1 period of Suspension
- 2nd Offense of Season: Discussion of the offense with coaches, player and parent(s) and 1 Game Suspension
- 3rd Offense of Season: Immediate Suspension and dismissal from the program for the remainder of the season without refund.
*Before submitting the electronic registration form for Twig hockey, both player and a parent/guardian must indicate that they have read, understand and agree to the above Code of Conduct. Registration cannot be completed without this acceptance and would deem the player as ineligible to participate in on-ice activities as a member of the Twig Blackhawks.
