Board Member Roles
President
The President oversees all aspects of the organization, provides leadership to the board, and ensures the smooth operation of the hockey program. This includes setting meeting agendas, facilitating board meetings, maintaining alignment with USA Hockey/Minnesota Hockey policies, and serving as the main liaison with partner rinks, leagues, and community stakeholders.
Secretary
The Secretary maintains official records of the organization, including meeting minutes, bylaws, and communications. This person is responsible for organizing and distributing meeting agendas and minutes, tracking votes and motions, and keeping documentation accessible for board members and the general membership.
Treasurer
The Treasurer manages the organization’s finances. Responsibilities include budgeting, financial reporting, maintaining accurate records, collecting payments, disbursing funds, and ensuring tax filings and nonprofit compliance. The Treasurer works closely with other directors on budget planning and funding needs.
Rink Director (Personnel)
The Rink Director (Personnel) oversees team coaches, team managers, and on-ice staff to ensure consistency with player development goals and organization values. This person helps with coach recruitment, certification tracking, training, and player evaluations, and serves as a resource for conflict resolution.
Rink Director (Facilities)
The Rink Director (Facilities) is responsible for scheduling and managing ice time, coordinating facility use for practices, games, and events, and overseeing general rink upkeep. This role ensures that the rink is clean, safe, and operational throughout the season. Duties also include managing seasonal setup and teardown, snow removal coordination, and day-to-day maintenance of the rink itself (not including infrastructure or mechanical equipment). This person works closely with the Maintenance Director to ensure seamless facility operations.
Maintenance Director
The Maintenance Director oversees the maintenance and functionality of the property’s infrastructure and mechanical systems. This includes managing the Zamboni, HVAC systems, lighting, plumbing, and other major equipment. Responsibilities also involve coordinating repairs, preventative maintenance, vendor relations, and long-term planning for property upkeep. The Maintenance Director ensures the facility remains safe, efficient, and operational for all users.
Equipment Director
The Equipment Director is responsible for the distribution, collection, and inventory of all team gear and jerseys. This role coordinates the ordering of uniforms, oversees the organization’s loaner gear program (if applicable), and ensures that all equipment is safe and compliant.
Tournament Director
The Tournament Director organizes and oversees all home tournaments hosted by the organization. Responsibilities include team registration, bracket setup, scheduling, volunteer coordination, and communications with visiting teams. This role works closely with the rink, concessions, and fundraising teams during events.
Fundraising Director
The Fundraising Director leads all efforts to raise funds for the organization through sponsorships, events, raffles, and campaigns. This person works to build relationships with local businesses, coordinates team fundraising initiatives, and collaborates with the Treasurer to track income.
Concessions Director
The Concessions Director manages the operation of the concession stand, including inventory, staffing, and cleanliness. This person sets pricing, coordinates volunteer scheduling, and ensures the stand complies with health regulations. This role is essential during tournaments and busy game weekends.
